The object of every boxers desire: The Championship medal design!

Every boxer wants to be at the very top at the winner’s rostrum on September 2nd. Enjoying the moment when IOC president Dr. Thomas Bach puts on the goldmedal around the athletes neck. We have to wait who finally will be no. 1 in each weight-class. Of course we keep our fingers crossed for our German World Chamionship-Team: Artem Harutyunyan, Ibrahim Bazuev, Salah Ibrahim, Murat Yildirim, Max Keller, Omar-El Hag, Igor Teziev, Silvio Schierle, Hamza ToubaAbbas Baraou.

But still, the design of the medals is unique at it’s best and noble for sure. Not just round our angular, but different from what we know with regard of medals. It was a pleasure for the LOC to see the variety of drafts of medal designs, collected via the design-contest , started mid of June. And by a clear margin with more than 60% of all online-votes, the design of Lucas Loritz from Darmstadt, Germany was selected to the winner’s rostrum, ….as number one!

The attention to the contest has been recalled by friends, the 28 year old architect said. And within three days he finalized the draft who convinced most of the people who voted online. „I’m really very pleased that my design won the contest and of course I’m excited and looking ahead to the AIBA World Boxing Chamionships in Hamburg!“, Lucas said.

The medals will be produced shortly to be on-site in Hamburg in time. After eight competition days of boxing, on Saturday, Sept. 2nd we will know who will be the new “title bearer” of one of the medals in ten weight-categories.
